Table - Filters are difficult to use & understand

Our filters are confusing to new and seasoned users.

  • Unclear when filters are in place - confusion caused that they persist

  • Multiple sorting causes people to think that sorting is broken

    • Default sorting by Due date & Payment amount

    • Sorting has to be TURNED off


What is the use case?

Using any table in AR & AP

Impact?

All clients, every time they use.

Is there a work around?

To clear filters: You have to have a saved view, and then you have to select the default view.

Proposed solution?

At the very least - RESET THE TABLE in-between sessions

  • Clear/Remove All Filters option

    • I would suggest an easy to reach button from the 3-dot menu that allows user to one-click remove all filters

    • Pain: Many emails & tickets are logged by clients unable to see all of their items after forgetting that they set a filter or sort which is easy to forget especially bc different filters exist in each bulk action tab

    • Pain: To remove filters & sorting, they'd then have to click on each column until the sorting arrows are gone & click into each filter field to delete all filters. It's a lot of clicking & easy to miss fields, which would lead to not all documents/invoices showing potentially without the user realizing it

  • Default every filter to "Equals"

    • Pain: Currently I believe all filter is defaulted to "Greater than or equal" which doesn't make sense bc a client is most often searching for a specific invoice amount. The filter will then return all invoices greater than or equal which makes it seem like our filter doesn't work. Then we have to show them to use the filter icon.

  • Reset all filters after logout

    • Our filters are sticky and it makes sense during the session, but after the user logs out, logically you'd think the filters would re-set. After logging out, they might also not remember the filters which could lead to missed items/confusion.

  • Allow "Default Filter View" to work even when no other saved view is selected/created.

    • Currently the "Default Filter View" option only works if there is a saved view. It would be a good experience to allow the user to select Default Filter View even if they hadn't saved a view because they may simply not need a filter view & want to get back to the default.
